The call of the dream peaks of Alaska is usually answered by elite pros or the high-flying heli-skiers. Three unpolished athletes, and their dog companion, decide to take their own route and embark on a road trip and backcountry ski journey to Haines, AK. trailer
While pursuing their goals along this pilgrimage, twists of nature and fate deal them loss, struggle, and surprise. AK the Hard Way paints an intimate portrait of how dreams, expectations, and realities can diverge in the raw exposure to life’s adventure.

Director Duane Kubischta
Duane Kubischta left behind an engineering career in 2004 to pursue a season of skiing and filming in Lake Tahoe. That experience evolved into a comprehensive and professional filmmaking career, and through the company that he founded, Adventure Film Works, Duane has produced four skiing adventure documentaries.

The films are unique in their genre for going beyond action to include deeper story and character development. These qualities have been recognized through numerous film festival showings throughout the world.
